Lisa Mcarther-Edwards IMPRESSability Project

The Impressability project empowered young people 12-25yrs with various disabilities, to explore their identities through experimental mark making, photography/ video and performance art. The aim of the project was to foster the artistic ‘identity’ of the twelve participants, and build artistic confidence.

A series of workshops under the guidance of three professional artists working in residence; Gemma Garner ‘Performance Art’, Angelo Kehagias ‘Digital Media’ and Kiera O’Toole ‘Mark making & drawing’ were held whereby the participants develop their visual language. I was the support artist under Kiera O’Toole and took over from her halfway through the project to take it to completion. The Youth Arts Warehouse space was then transformed into an innovative contemporary exhibition made up of a series of installations, projections, artworks and photography.
